A brief history ……….

  • I was a teacher and Head of Humanities in Sheffield, where I developed skills in project and enquiry based learning.
  • At the same time I was an editor of WideWorld, the GCSE geography magazine.
  • I wrote a series of books called Humanities Insights for Hodder & Stoughton.
  • Then inspector/adviser for Humanities in Kirklees, West Yorkshire
  • I helped found an early multi-media authoring business and wrote educational CD-ROMS.
  • I became an Ofsted Registered inspector (secondary).
  • Moved on to be inspector for key skills in Kirklees and led implementation of the National Strategies.
  • Jumped over the M62 to become Director – South Bradford Education Action Zone.
  • Took over management of the National Strategies Team, and then built CPD provision, for Education Bradford.
  • Moved to Tribal Group and became Programme Director for BSF. Worked with several contractor and Local Authority clients delivering school design consultancy and ICT support.
  • Went freelance and set up BJDEDUCATION LTD. I closed this company when my largest customer, Gaia Technologies, offered me an employed position.
  • So most recently I was Head of Education Transformation at Gaia Technologies PLC. The company went into administration in 2019.
  • Thus I have resurrected BJDEDUCATION but this time working as a sole trader, alongside a network of fellow education and technology consultants.
  • I currently provide support to Tablet Academy (Microsoft consultancy and training), Guide Education (education networking & sales) and Joskos (bid and tender management).
